How to score more in English Section of CLAT

CLAT i.e common law aptitude test aspirants should be aware of the significance of the English Section in CLAT and other law entrance exams. The knowledge & understanding of the last twelve years of schooling with English as a subject is extremely critical in scoring good in these exams. If a student is weak in English, that means he or she lacks in vocab, reading comprehension and grammar so they must take ample care in making sure they are working on their writing & reading skills as all questions in these tests are in English medium only. One must know the basics of the English language so as to understand the questions of reasoning and mathematics properly.
Some of the basic points to be kept in mind while attempting the English section are:
? What is actually a good score- Do not attempt all the questions in the English section as it is not a wise decision, even if you are pretty strong in English. A score in the range of 28-32 is good enough to help you get through if you have performed well in other sections. This range is ideal as it will save a critical amount of time and will allow you to attempt a good amount of questions in the legal aptitude, reasoning and GK sections.
Don’t be in a hurry – No need to rush. Yes, the time factor certainly plays a critical role in getting a decent score in this section. The trick is to Spend more time with lesser number of questions important than trying to attempt all the given questions
If you are good at it, stop practicing- Scoring high marks in the English Section does not really need a very high level of practice, if you are actually good at the subject and are clear with the basics. But if you feel that excelling in this section will guarantee you a high rank then think again. Rather, the only advantage you have by having good knowledge of this subject is that you will have a good amount of time to work on other sections.
Practice under time Keeper- try to Attempt sectional tests of English keeping a stopwatch or noting the time as this is the best way to increase your precision and get the best result from this section.
LAW entrance specific advice – Do keep in mind that the English section is not something to be ignored in Law exams. A competitive score in this section is much required and this will sail you through to a very high rank. One must keep in mind that this is the other fastest way to score good marks in law entrance exams after the GK section.
