Syllabus for the Entrance Test

Paper I MCQ :

20 MCQ’s will be asked in this paper. Following are the subjects/topics on which the questions can be asked:

  1. National and international political issues/personalities.
  2. Social and cultural issues.
  3. Language and literature.
  4. Fine arts.
  5. Media industry.
  6. National and international history.
  7. General knowledge.
  8. Reasoning.

Paper II Descriptive :

This paper will have sections on basic news writing, analytical writing, English quotation development and English grammar. The paper aims to check aspirants’ knowledge of functional and English writing skills.

Eligibility

One is eligible to register for the OET if he or she meets the requirements mentioned below:

  • Must be a graduate from a University with approved stream in India
  • Final year appearing students can apply
  • You should be 35 years or below in age.
Registration Process
  • The duration of test is 90 MINUTES – at the Centre in the city of your choice.
  • On completion of the ONLINE TEST, ONLY those who attain the cut off, will be called upon to appear for a Personal Interview which can be in person or via a ‘SKYPE’ Video Interview. (SVI)
  • This ‘SKYPE’ Video Interview will be conducted without delay after the completion of the Online Test; and at the same OET Centre.
Exam Details
  • The OET will be a 90 minute ONLINE Test
  • TOTAL of 150 marks
  • TWO SECTIONS: OBJECTIVE and SUBJECTIVE
  • The OBJECTIVE SECTION carries 100 marks. Time duration is of 60 minutes.
    It will consist of questions based on:-
    • Language Skills,
    • General Knowledge and Knowledge of Media,
    • Logical and Analytical skills.
  • The SUBJECTIVE SECTION carries 50 marks. Time duration is of 30 minutes.
    It will consist of 3 questions which can be from media industry in order to assess writing skills, creativity, social values, ethics etc. Few questions can also be related to the Course you are applying for.
Eligibility
  • A Bachelor’s Degree is mandatory.
  • Graduates in any discipline and students awaiting their degree examination results are eligible to apply
  • Enrolled students must submit their degree certificate to the Registrar within the first week of start of classes.
  • Students awaiting their examination results must submit their degree certificate latest by the end of February next year of admission.
Exam Details
  • The entrance will be online in real time and will be divided in two parts: (a) to check the applicant’s English language skills and (b) the awareness of current affairs and general knowledge.
  • It will also have test of writing ability and will assess their analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Applicants who have scored well in the entrance test will be invited to an interview which will take place at the college.
