The written examination for NIFT 2024 has two components:
The Creativity Ability Test (CAT) will include three questions that candidates will have to answer in 3 hours. The CAT section will have a total of 100 marks. The NIFT CAT exam will evaluate candidates’ intuitive and design abilities, observation skills for developing a concept, innovative use of colour, and illustration skills.
Those seeking admission to the B.Des courses need to appear in both CAT and GAT.
However, those seeking admission to the B.F.Tech course only need to take the GAT.

The NIFT BDes (Bachelor of Design) admissions process includes a Situation Test in which candidates, shortlisted based on their written test performance, undergo evaluation of their “material handling and innovative ability.” The Situation Test for the focuses on various parameters to assess candidates’ skills
