ABOUT OBEROI – STEP

The Systematic Training and Education Programme – STEP

It offers a three-year Programme for students who have passed Class XII.
The Systematic Training and Education Programme – STEP includes comprehensive on-the-job training at select Oberoi and Trident Hotels along with a correspondence Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Studies from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

The programs offered:

• Hotel Operations Programme – Front Office and Food & Beverage Service
• Hotel Operations Programme – Housekeeping
• Hotel Operations Programme – Kitchen

The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development’s STEP Programme offers several benefits

Educational Opportunities: Selected candidates are enrolled in the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Bachelor of Tourism Studies program, with all expenses, including course fees and books, covered.
Comprehensive Support: The program covers expenses for accommodation, duty meals, transportation, medical insurance, and uniforms.
Monthly Allowance: Trainees receive a monthly allowance during their training period.
Study Opportunities: The program includes a dedicated study day once a week, as well as three weeks of study leave to take IGNOU exams and three weeks of annual leave.
Recognized Qualification: Upon successful completion of the STEP Programme, trainees receive a Bachelor of Tourism Studies degree from IGNOU and a Certificate of Proficiency from The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development.
Career Path: The program prepares candidates to join The Oberoi Group as Operations Assistants at their hotels, offering a promising career path in the hospitality industry.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the program, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

Age Requirement: Candidates should be above 18 years and below 20 as of 15th August of the year they join the program.

Educational Qualification: Candidates should have successfully passed Class XII from a board recognized by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), India, as of 1st July of the year they joined the program.

English Proficiency: The program requires candidates to have scored 70% or above in English at the Class X level. In CBSE, this is equivalent to a B2 Grade or a 7 Grade Point or above.

Register Online Assessments & Interviews Result And Start Of The Programme

The Selection Process For Candidates Consists Of Three Rounds:

First Round
Candidates Are Grouped In Batches Of 15 To 20 People. They Participate In A Series Of Exercises And Quizzes. During This Round, Assessors Evaluate Candidates Based On Their Appearance, Composure, And English-Speaking Skills.
Second Round
On The Same Day As The First Round, Those Shortlisted From The Initial Selection Move On To The Second Round. This Phase Involves One-On-One Interviews With A Faculty Panel. The Assessors Use This Opportunity To Learn More About The Candidates And Assess Their Suitability For A Career In Hospitality.
Third Round
Applicants Shortlisted From The Second Round Proceed To The Third Round. This Round Includes Additional Exercises And Questions.

The Final Step Is A Panel Interview
It’s Important To Note That This Round Might Take Place In A Different City And On A Different Day Compared To The Previous Two Rounds.
These Rounds Collectively Help Assessors Evaluate Candidates Thoroughly And Select Those Who Display The Necessary Qualities And Potential For A Career In The Hospitality Industry.

Oberoi STEP Fees for the Courses

The Oberai STEP program is not only the Hospitality Education Program but also provides practical training in Oberai hotels. The students who get selected for this program do not have to pay any fees. The Oberoi Group pays a monthly allowance for accommodation, daily meals on duty, uniforms, and medical insurance to their trainees
